I got tired of my dark paintings. I also want to get back to the mythological feel. This satyr piece has a lot more of that than my previous one, I think.
Using different brushes (that was supposed to mimic dry acrylics) the look becomes sort of texture-ish which, in this case, I like. I'm very interested in knowing what you think about this one...

It does look like a great traditional painting, except the splashes, which look still digital.

As the others have said, the acrylic feel is very convincing, especially in the water.
I can't say I like it as much as the darker one, though, to be honest. The colors feel washed out to me, and the details and forms are less well-defined.

Pleeeaase... This one is like 10 times better. This one has soul and atmosphere, whereas the other one is just typically cool. Of course, the first one gets a lot more favs and views, but then pop-music always sold more than classical. ;)
When I finally manage to touch that which my heart longs for, people can't tell the difference. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about other people, but will focus instead on continuing my quest for the essence. Perhaps there is someone else out there who can see that the tail alone on this new slayer makes the first one look boring and juvenile?
Anyway, Moai, I'm grateful for your honest feedback.

True, the first one is "typically cooler" and more conventional than this one, but that's not why I like it more.

Looks very much like an acrylic painting, I really like the texture. It's definitely higher key than your other stuff. The contrast of the monster in the foreground helps to push the details without taking away from the softness of the picture. Adding more of a splash or even a slight tilt of the picture would help to put a bit more tension in the picture, but it works very well as it is now I think. Very good work!
