He's nice and scary, but I can't help wondering about the tendrilly object - it appears to be tied around his waist. Is it a loin-cloth sort of thing? If it is, then I can't think why a demon would be wearing one!

How can one person be so endlessly disappointing?

Okay... I'll give it a try. Initially the area between the legs looked empty, so I thought about what to do with it... when extending the loincloth into shadowy "roots" I came up with an idea... but first let me tell you about the loincloth itself.
When painting demons I usually come across the idea to add a really huge phallos... much like H.R Giger would do. But in fantasy settings that strikes me as a bit too sexual. So, either one can do a limb hanging penis or hide that area somhow. A demon that have been a demon forever would reasonably not wear such a piece of clothing, but if this was once a human being now warped into a demon some human cultural habits might linger. In this case however the piece of cloth has become one with the demonic character itself... and has grown roots of shadow. This demon uses its sexual hunger to extract energy from the ethereal surroundings and to sexually devour the spirits and ghosts that it encounters. It searches for the places where people have recently passed away, finds their souls with its magical spirit-stone and captures the poor souls before it enjoys a more physical feast with their remains. Demonic hunger... right?

Ah - yes, I see - a perfectly adequate explanation! I suppose that demons wouldn't really breed, would they - I can't see mummy and daddy demons, somehow, so I guess they wouldn't actually need sexual equipment - just having it to annoy humans with, seems a bit unlikely. And do they need to pee? Possibly not, though of course they do eat people and things don't they, which implies ingestion, digestion and presumably, excretion - so probably, they do need to pee - and pooh? So I expect that they'd really have to have some method of ensuring adequate clearance during voiding, or it would just dribble down their legs, wouldn't it. So they would need some sort of 'aiming' equipment - a nozzle of some kind, perhaps. Mind you, some birds allow their pee to dribble down their legs, as a means of cooling, so if demons are at all like birds, maybe the dribbling option would be advantageous. Sigh. It's a complex subject ...
