The Transformation of Elves and VampiresI've been thinking about elves lately, and the many renditions I see of them on Deviant Art and other (pop) art sites. I have a feeling that elves, and vampires, used to represent immortality. Where vampires represented the damnation of Hell eternal, elves where ancient beings, deeply connected to life and spirit - "Heaven".

Though the hunger and desire of vampires reflected parts of human nature, they moved with the grace of aristocracy, and indifference of the centuries. THE OMBOLOM
Between NOW and THEN there are mountains. Yes, vast impenetrable ranges of rock. And within those mountains lies the labyrinth of time, forever untouched by the clocks of men. Inside its winding tunnels lives a breed long forgotten, known in the old days as the Ombolom. Monkeys, or devils, no one knows, but those creatures hold in their kingdom the secret of time. At will, they bend the hours to their liking, exiting the tunnels WHEN-ever they please. Roaming worlds no longer here, as well as the present – from today to the forlorn past, it is said that they search for treasure. Whether gold or knowledge, who can tell, but some has tried to reach their lair – for legends say that all is there.
